Lip Before and Aftercare Instructions
The information below is meant to help protect you from issues during and following your procedure. Please read these instructions carefully.
If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), Please be advised that you should contact your doctor to obtain the proper medications to prevent an outbreak before or after the procedure.
Cosmetic treatments to the lip areas do not cause cold sores. However, if you already carry the virus, then it is dormant in the body and can be activated by the treatment. Taking the proper medications recommended by your doctor will help you to prevent an outbreak.
*Do NOT have any lip wax or bleaching treatments during the 14 days before your procedure
*Do NOT use Juvederm or any equivalent to within 4 weeks prior and 8 weeks after your procedure. If you have had Juvederm, please receive clearance from your Juvederm technician before undergoing the procedure.
*Drink through a straw for the first 3 – 5 days after your procedure.
*Apply lip balm as necessary to keep lips moist.
*Avoid flavored, colored, and scented lip balms or balms with menthol additives
*Avoid foods that contain liquids for 3 – 5 days after your procedure. Instead, eat clean dry foods (e.g. granola, cereals without milk, nuts, raisins, bread, cheeses) or eat with cutlery to avoid getting food and liquids on your lips. Avoid spicy and salty foods.
*To avoid possible infection, do NOT kiss until scabs have completely come off.
